1. Empower Their Mission 🌟

Engineering is in our DNA. We embrace the complexity of our customers’ work and over-invest in building meaningful relationships with them.

We have a weighty obligation to the critical technology our users build and the people it serves. When we lose focus, make a mistake, or miss a deadline, it matters. We take that responsibility seriously.

2. Run With It 🏃🏻‍♀️

At Nominal, we take initiative, trust our intuitions, and don't rely on a playbook. Our success depends on our clock speed.

When in doubt, own it. If something is broken, fix it. When oversubscribed, ask for resources.

A Nomineer doesn’t hesitate to do the unglamorous, unscalable work necessary to build an enduring organization.

We don’t need rigid rules to succeed. We introduce processes only when they provide meaningful coordination and clarity.

3. Stay Grounded 🪴

We are all works in progress. We believe character matters and approach each other with humility and compassion.

We view feedback as a gift and a muscle that weakens without use. Feedback is a spectrum - it should be given and received with care and with the best intent assumed at all times. We freely give and receive thoughtful feedback as a way to support and care for each other's work.

Vulnerability is valuable. We admit our mistakes, encourage team members to ask questions and admit where we need help. We invite others to contribute, as opposed to staking territory.

We remain calm under pressure. Things can and will go wrong - it's our response that matters.

4. Foster Obsession 👨‍💻

At Nominal, we create our own success every day - we will it into reality. This requires obsession. Obsession is the intersection of curiosity, care, and action.

Obsessed Nomineers are excellent. We expect every Nominal employee to be a bar raiser in their own way - examples are deep technical expertise, relentless pursuit of goals, or an x-ray vision for character.

Obsession manifests a desire to learn and overflows into a culture of teaching.

Obsession drives craft - in our product, our sales decks, and even in a simple document for a teammate. We obsess over impact, envision the future, and solve the hardest problems first.

5. Promote Clarity

The greatest gift we can offer our customers and each other is clarity.
